Innovation in High-Speed - an example from real live

We would like to present a project that was born within the Healthcare Shapers - a network of the best consultants and experts in the healthcare industry.

At the beginning of the pandemic, a customer (and network partner) of velixX GmbH approached us with a visionary and highly innovative idea:

Revolutionizing virus diagnostics through miniaturization and digitalization, fast, decentralized and completely digital!

The company midge medical GmbH had the vision and the decisive molecular diagnostic know-how for a real game changer in rapid diagnostics. Now velixX GmbH was commissioned to make a reader available as quickly as possible in order to make virus detection in PCR quality available to everyone.

This was the start of a fantastic collaboration and a real success story:

• velixX developed a miniaturized fluorescence reader (just 65 grams of high-tech) with its technology network in a very short space of time
• The documentation was provided in accordance with IVD
• Sustainability was ensured through minimized use of materials and resources, elimination of sample logistics to the laboratory and preparation for the use of biocompatible plastics
• A small device with optical detection, heating, control and BLE communication was developed in just 6 months
• The final system and biochemistry development and verification were started at an accelerated pace

What were the success factors?

• An overwhelming mutual trust between all project participants - true partnerships
• Extremely short communication and decision paths and very close interactive collaboration
• A high level of shared system understanding between medicine, biochemistry, optics, electronics and mechanics
